Want to get a jump on spring cleaning? The pantry is a great way to start! If this sounds daunting, no worries! The Cabinet Chic has you covered with tips & tricks and the ultimate guide to organizing your pantry.
Pantry Organization Tips
Step 1: Take everything out.
Go ahead and take everything out. This helps you to touch and see everything (including those hard-to-see items lurking in the back). While you are taking everything out, sort and categorize like items, and check for expiration dates. Before returning items to the pantry, thoroughly wipe down the shelves and sweep your floors. Does your kitchen need more than just a spring cleaning? C & C Cabinets loves to keep things organized with custom kitchen design. Call the Cabinet Chic to design and build your own Pinterest-worthy pantry!
Step 2: Set up zones.
Those items that you just sorted and categorized? Put them back in the pantry in designated zones, i.e. baking items, dry pasta and grains, spices, kid-friendly items, etc. Doing so will help when you’re unloading groceries, making lunch for the kids, baking a cake...perfect for however you enjoy the hub of the home.
Step 3: Decant, decant, decant.
Transfer common ingredients such as flour, sugar, pasta, nuts, crackers, beans, etc. into large glass or plastic bins with lids. Not only is this organizing at its finest, but it is also so nice to look at when you open the pantry! Take your decanting to the next level by adding cute, decorative decals to your decanters. Another great idea is to write the expiration dates on your decanter using a dry erase marker. Some stores even let you take your decanters to the grocery and fill up on bulk items, so it’s also good for the environment!
Step 4: Fill tiered shelves.
Place bleacher-style shelves on a shelf in your pantry to easily located canned goods or spices. Another way to use up every inch of available space is to add shelving on the back of your pantry door. This makes for a great storage solution for condiments, spices, and other small items.
Step 5: Use your vertical space.
Take advantage of any vertical wall space available by scattering baskets on both high and low shelves. Please seasonal items in the baskets up high and kid-friendly essentials down low. Then add in your favorite kitchen décor to take your pantry to a total wow moment. When storage is limited in your pantry, C&C Cabinets can help maximize your space with creative storage solutions. Create a chic pantry space that wows you at every mealtime (and for when you just can’t help but peek in because it’s just so pretty).
