Waking up refreshed and relaxing before you go to sleep at night are two extremely important things for creating your best life. But it’s so easy for your bedroom to become cluttered with laundry, electronics, work items, kids and pet toys, etc. Plus, there are so many ways for your bedroom to be keeping you up at night.
Below are some of our favorite tips for creating your dream bedroom so you can drift off into sweet dreamland.
Select Smart Storage
Make your bedroom your sanctuary by keeping mess and clutter at bay. The best way to do this is to have a place for everything (and not keep too much in your bedroom.) Installing a functional system, whether it be a closet scheme, built-in shelving and cabinets, or custom furniture, will take your bedroom bliss to the next level.
C & C Cabinets works with you to create beautiful storage solutions. Whether you need maximum storage, a custom closet, or cabinets to keep things clean and organized, we’re here to help! We work with you to create a plan that mirrors your vision, and we have some tricks up our sleeves to help bring your dream to life! It’s an easy, seamless, and transparent process.
Make It a Relaxing Retreat
First, keep the tech out of the bedroom. Don’t add a desk or exercise equipment, and keep the TV and smart devices out. You’re here to relax and sleep after all! Finally, although we know it can be a hard thing to do, do your best to keep your kid’s and pet’s time in your bedroom to a minimum.
This is the spot to splurge! After all, you spend at least a third of your life in bed. So, get that high-end mattress, bedding, and furniture. Add the throw blankets and fluffy pillows.
To make the bedroom even more of a relaxing retreat, consider adding:
- A reading nook,
- A meditation corner
- A yoga spot
- Plants for a touch of nature
- A cozy corner with a plush chair next to a window where you can enjoy your morning coffee.
Choose a Peaceful Color Palette
Set the tone of your bedroom and make it your haven by keeping things soft and light. And bring the outside in!
Think about similar colors for the walls and textiles:
- Sea greens
- Sky blues
- Sandy neutrals
Use natural items like wood, glass, and plants (whether real or faux.)
Soft and neutral colors make for the most Zen spaces. Cool colors like blue, green, and purple are the most relaxing. Neutrals like brown, white, and gray bring warmth. And used in small doses, black and metallics give depth and promote creativity.

The Power of Light
Lighting is a powerful part of setting the mood in your bedroom. Adding a delicate light fixture is an excellent option in addition to a small, elegant lamp on your nightstand, allowing for several lighting options. If you have a nightlight, keep it really small and away from your line of sight when in bed.
Remember, avoid fluorescent lighting in the bedroom and choose warm yellow-toned lights.
Mirrors are an excellent way to reflect light and make your space feel larger.
Don’t forget to add a spot for your favorite candles to burn responsibly. And make sure to add as much natural light as possible during the day while keeping it as dark as possible for a good night’s rest.
